Collontrek 2026

On September 5th one of the most fascinating events for lovers of high altitude running returns: the Collontrek, a spectacular trail running race that passes through extraordinary alpine environments between Italy and Switzerland. The competition is spread over a route of approximately 22 kilometers, with 1,250 meters of positive altitude difference and 1,230 meters of negative altitude difference, along ancient mountain paths once used by the cross-border populations of Alta Valpelline (Italy) and Val d’Hérens (Switzerland). The start is planned near the upper crown wall of the Place-Moulin Dam, at an altitude of 1,989 meters, in the municipality of Bionaz. From here the athletes will tackle a spectacular route that leads to Col Collon (3,069 m), the border point between Italy and Switzerland, before descending to the finish line in Arolla, at 2,006 metres above sea level. The Collontrek therefore represents much more than a race: it is a unique sporting and cultural experience, immersed in the history and nature of the Alps, capable of uniting two territories and two traditions in a single, spectacular high-altitude itinerary.
